Thundering Dragon Kung Fu System
Our Kung Fu pai, or system, includes the classical kung fu animals of tiger, snake, crane, mantis, leopard, and dragon as well as many other animal styles including monkey, bear, ape, horse, and eagle, to name a few. The animal styles progress through our three overarching styles Hung Pai, Ho Mei Pai, and Hao Peng.
Five Element Red Fist Fast Boxing, or Hung Pai, is the art that creates the foundation for all of our animal styles. Hung style cultivates continuous strikes, charging stance work and low to mid height kicking with the power of 1000 miles of firecrackers.
Large Fist Short Stance Hammer Boxing, or Ho Mai Pai, is the intermediate to advanced level of skill development in all of the animal styles. This style generates coiled, rooted stancework, large circular arm motions, efficient direction changes and use of the whole body in striking. When properly executed this style hits extremely hard and teaches angular advantage in martial application.
Eight Gate Long Stance Tornado Boxing, or Hao Peng, is our most advanced art and requires the mastery of the other two. Hao Peng generates quick direction changes, extreme stance changes, very powerful, short circular striking and multidimensional kicking. Its power is generated from the momentum of the legs and waist turning the body, creating the momentum of a tornado, though one’s mind is empty and still at the center.
All of our arts cultivate and focus the heart-mind, transforming mental, emotional and physical suffering into vitality, radiance and resilience. Though innately internal, Our Kung Fu system cultivates martial and physical prowess. Due to the internal nature, you will also see meditation and qigong techniques embedded into the training and courses.
Why we practice Kung Fu
For us the earth is profoundly sacred, and our bodies are an expression of that sacredness. We believe that cultivating our physical body is as important as cultivating the mind, the heart and the spirit. Our bodies are an expression of the interplay between heaven, earth, the living breathing elements and dramatically interwoven to the web of living and spiritual beings. Because of this deep belief, our lineage practices a powerful kung fu system as an expression of the sutra of the body. For us, our kung fu is a sacred activity. It is our base in many ways.
